Human Rights Conference

Human Rights Conference

Young human-rights advocates from 12 European countries met in Copenhagen on 8–9 October 2021 for a conference organised by Youth for Human Rights Denmark. The programme focused on children’s rights, discrimination, racism, barriers to education and practical human-rights outreach.

Speakers brought perspectives from education, law, religion and community activism. Mary Shuttleworth of Youth for Human Rights International emphasised teaching the Universal Declaration to young people, while other contributors discussed prejudice, equal access to education and the value of neutral, high-quality education about religion.

Turning education into action

Swiss representative Valentine Douady described public information stands, distribution of the booklet What Are Human Rights?, promotion of the online course and awareness work concerning domestic violence.

Thirty-five delegates continued with workshops and a public street action. By the end of the meeting, participants had developed plans for expanding human-rights education in their countries and created a network to exchange ideas and support future activities.
